I met Kimi while taking a class at Colorado Christian University in Colorado Springs. I was immediately blown away by her incredible spirit, positive attitude, and grace. She could have turned bitter after her accident, instead she has allowed it to change her life for the better. Her book has the same positive attitude and approach to those who may be slightly different from the "normal" person. This book can help children understand that different is not a bad thing. I would highly recommend this book to anyone with children and believe that it should be a MUST READ for all kids!! Some adults need to read this too. Great book for all ages!Product details

I had the pleasure of meeting Kimi quite by chance. She is one of the most amazing young women I have ever met. To have had ones life taken away in the blink of an eye and to have come back, different ...but awesome is unbelievable. You Go Kimi!
This book is perfect for explaining a wheelchair situation to young children. For the adult, the illustrations are quirky and the story is entertaining. A must for every young family's library.
I bought this book because I knew Kimi before her accident. She was a bubbly, energetic, and talented person. She was a gymnast and an athletic cheerleader. She was a typical teenager enjoying life. One morning on her way to school, her life, as she knew it, changed forever. Instead of allowing her new found limitations to define her, she has used these limitations to be an encouragement to others. This book is a prime example of that. Way to go Kimi!! May God continue to bless you and your efforts!!!
Children are so honest and open. Many times Kimi says kids would ask her about her wheelchair and parents would quickly "shush" their children in embarrassment and immediately apologize for them. Kimi never understood that; she saw it as just an honest curiosity and would take time to explain to the kids that it's just a wheelchair. She speaks eloquently on the topic in her real life and in the book, explains though she may have challenges, she has the same aspirations and activities that other people do. This is a beautifully illustrated book written for the enlightenment of children opening a dialogue of diversity. It is a true gift of conversation lending to understanding.
